The results of the most recent study on the brand awareness of EEA Grants in Portugal reveal a significant increase in its visibility.
In 2024, 24% of respondents stated they were familiar with EEA Grants, compared to just 4% in 2018. Additionally, 49% of participants reported being aware of other financial supports provided to Portugal outside of the European Union, a substantial increase from the 6% recorded six years ago.
In the final year of implementing the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, the National Focal Point conducted a study titled “Awareness of EEA Grants,” following the guidelines set by the Financial Mechanism Office. The methodology followed the same framework as the initial assessment in 2018 and aims to measure awareness of EEA Grants in Portugal.
The online questionnaire was based on a sample of 400 responses, similar to the method used in 2018. It sought to assess knowledge on various aspects such as recognition of the EEA Grants logo, donor countries, supported areas, communication channels, and general objectives. It covered the entire national territory and was directed to individuals over 18 years old, including a brief sociodemographic profile of the participants.
This marked increase demonstrates that, over the past six years of implementing the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area, the communication strategy has been managed effectively. The activities undertaken have thus contributed to enhancing visibility, promoting results, and disseminating impact within Portuguese society.
