In Portugal, 3D printing technology is still very little used especially in the maritime sector, which encompasses micro, small and medium-sized products.

Through the implementation of the newest 3D printing technology, the HO-3D project aims to address the Ocean pollution problem, namely by transforming marine plastic waste into new products that can be used both by the general population and by the fishing industry.

The efficiency of this technology allows full use of the material consumed, thus ensuring that raw materials are not wasted in the manufacturing process. In addition to contributing to the removal of marine litter, the project also aims the reduction of the consumption of "virgin" material, mainly used in the 3D printed products.

Therefore, the project aims to create a new life cycle of all waste collected and transformed, in a circular economy approach.
