What is the project about?

This project aims to foster civil and cooperative participation among women farmers from inland countryside of Portugal, through their empowerment, so as to contribute to their social visibility and enhancing equality between women and men. The intervention-oriented project is based on the Theory of Change, a methodology which carries participation in its core.

It is an Open Call #5 project: Intervention projects to promote gender equality at local level.

What will it achieve?

  • Survey of data in the field, through the identification and socioeconomic characterization of women who dedicate themselves to family farming, as well as the understanding and evaluation of the role they play in the organization of the farm and the family, using a varied set of instruments.

  • Construction of an intervention instrument - an action roadmap for the empowerment of beneficiaries that will address the technical and personal development content of their training.

  • Implementation of the instruments developed and the continuous and participatory monitoring of their application.

  • Measuring the impact of the intervention and the sustainability of the project.
