Environment Programme: Launching of the first Calls for submission of applications

Launching of the first Calls of the Environment Program to promote Circular Economy and development of standards in the Construction Sector, and prevention and awareness for the Reduction of Marine Litter. The application period will run from July 18 until 12:00 (GMT) of October 31, 2019.

Under the EEA Grants 2014-2021, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as donor Countries, finance, in 15 Member States of the European Union, initiatives and projects with the objective of reducing social and economic disparities by strengthening bilateral relations with beneficiary Countries.

The Environment Programme launched 3 Calls, in the scope of projects promoting Circular Economy in the Construction Sector, development of standards in the Construction Sector promoting Circular Economy and prevention and awareness for Marine Litter Reduction.

Innovative and structuring projects will be financed in the areas of Environment, Climate Change and Low Carbon Economy, with the objective of promoting good environmental status of ecosystems and reducing the adverse effects of pollution and other human activities.

Promoting the Circular Economy in the Construction Sector - Call#2 has a total allocation of 3 500 000 euros and the duration of projects should be between 12 and 24 months.

The main objective of this Call is the development and implementation of construction projects demonstrating economic and environmental benefits, projects promoting the performance and environmental profile of materials, components and products developed in Portugal, including buildings, through the application and promotion of methodologies and innovative technologies, as well as projects promoting cooperation between companies to reduce construction and demolition waste and promote materials and products incorporating materials recovered from waste.

Prevent and raise awareness of marine litter - SGS#1 have a total allocation of 1 000 000 euros and the duration of projects should be between 12 and 24 months. This Call aims to finance projects that focus on the priority areas for the reduction of plastics in the oceans and the promotion of awareness of the challenges related to plastics in the oceans and the proposal of solutions.

The Development of standards in the Construction Sector that promote the Circular Economy - SGS#2 has a total allocation of 1 00 000 euros and the duration of the projects should be 12 months. This Call aims at developing standards for the construction industry that promote the circularity of materials and processes.

Applications must be submitted using for each Call the respective electronic application form and attachments on the EEA Grants website available within the Calls.
