iREC project receives international distinction

The iREC pilot project was awarded the "Escoba de Oro" by the Spanish association ATEGRUS. This project was the first beverage container return system to introduce the incentive modality in Portugal.

The pilot project iREC - Innovate in recycling, promoted by Cascais Ambiente, was distinguished with the "Escoba de Oro" by the Spanish association ATEGRUS. This project was the first beverage packaging return system to introduce the incentive mode in Portugal.

In a statement, Cascais Environment sees the innovative nature of the project and the results achieved in just 12 months recognized. In the first year of operation, more than one million packages were collected.

"This is the second time that ATEGRUS awards a Cascais Ambiente project. We don't work for these awards, but it is true that they serve to measure the pulse of our work, its relevance and capacity for change. With our current knowledge of the field, we have the ideal conditions to continue providing value and knowledge about the future Deposit System with Return", points out Cascais Environment's president, Luís Almeida Capão.

The Escoba de Oro award will be delivered to Cascais Ambiente on June 15th, in Madrid.
