What did this initiative focus on?

The goal is to establish a partnership between Portugal and Norway, boosting the transition to a lower environmental impact agriculture. The project seeks to promote, discuss, and implement activities that contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) in the agricultural sector, with a focus on the Trás-os-Montes region in Portugal.

Through a digital platform developed by the company Decarbonify, the project aims to quantify GHG emissions in the agri-food sector, providing real-time data analysis. This innovative approach will allow the identification of specific points with high potential to reduce emissions, as well as monitor the progress of decarbonization actions over time.

This exchange of information and expertise will strengthen bilateral relations and contribute to advancing agricultural decarbonization across Europe.

Expected results include the identification of emission reduction opportunities, the development of decarbonization strategies adapted to regional characteristics, the creation of a best practice manual for the agri-food sector, and the dissemination of results to raise awareness on the importance of climate action.
