Over the last three years, a multidisciplinary team has collaborated to study and promote the 12 Biosphere Reserves in Portugal, encouraging the sharing of good practices and cooperation at national and international level.

Through the EEA Grants, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway established the objective of reducing social and economic disparities in Europe by strengthening bilateral relations with the Beneficiary States. Portugal will benefit from an amount of 102,7M€.

On September 28th, at the José Sarmento Auditorium of the Bomfim Conservatory in Braga, the Final Seminar of the "Cávado + Equal" Project took place, with the aim of presenting the main results and final products of this project to the community and the region.
EEA Grants Portugal hosted a visit for a Croatian delegation made up of members of the National Focal Point of the Croatian EEA Grants, the Local Development and Poverty Reduction Programme Operator and the Audit Authority of the Croatian Ministry of Finance.
The Coordinator of the National Management Unit for EEA Grants emphasized the results of a 3-year project that "has sought to understand the main challenges faced in Biosphere Reserves, both at the national and international levels, with the aim of enhancing the territories in collaboration with communities, focusing on strengthening skills and a governance model."
The MERIT project's Intermediate Seminar occurred online on 20th September. The aim was to present methods and initial outcomes of four ongoing studies
The collaboration between the EEA Grants and the Programme Operators Directorate-General for Maritime Policy, Secretary-General for the Environment, Directorate-General for Cultural Heritage and the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality, in partnership with Quidgest, was distinguished with this technology company's Network Co-innovation Award.
