Bilateral Initiative “Enhancing the protection of the rights of the child in priority areas”

The second thematic workshop of the bilateral Initiative “Enhancing the protection of the rights of the child in priority areas” was held in Lisbon, on November 25 and 26, 2019.

The Initiative is totally financed by the Fund for Bilateral Relations of the EEA Grants and involves Portugal and Norway, namely through the National Commission for the Promotion of the Rights and the Protection of Children and Young People as its promoter, and the Agency for Child and Family Welfare of the City of Oslo as partner.

The event provided an opportunity for shared intense reflection and construction and will deeply impact the production of both final outputs of the Initiative:

  • a thematic glossary of child protection systems and of the promotion of children’s rights focused on the participation and hearing of the child in specially vulnerable contexts
  • and a digital frame of reference on good practices for enhancing child participation in the promotion and protection of the rights of the child.

The second thematic workshop was attended by a wide variety of stakeholders, including representatives of the Agency for Child and Family Welfare of the City of Oslo, of the National Commission, and of several Portuguese institutions, whose contributions are vital to the development of a cross-cutting, holistic vision that will lay down the basis for new perspectives and approaches to the matters at stake.
