On the 10th of May, the SHAPING project, co-funded by the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism (EEA Grants) under the Fund for Bilateral Relations, was officially launched.

SHAPING - Sustainable and tecHno-economic digitAl models of PromINent food technoloGies.

This Initiative aims at the cooperation between Portugal and Norway on the co-development of an innovative support tool to help food companies in their decarbonization process.

Colab4Food – Collaborative Laboratory for Innovation in the Agri-food Industry is the promotor of this Project, in a partnership with the Reaction Engineering and Catalysis Group – Faculty of Science and Technology, Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

The SHAPING main goal is to develop a simple/basic tool integrating techno-economic models with Carbon Footprint calculation for emerging food processing technologies, combining the expertise in food science and engineering from Colab4Food with the expertise in techno-economic assessment from Norwegian University of Life Sciences.

The innovative models will be developed based on knowledge sharing, as well as joint research and development carried out by both partners.

The new, accessible and comprehensive SHAPING tool will be made available for all food sector enterprises, allowing them to evaluate the risk of adopting new technologies.

Additionally, in order to facilitate technology transfer, a technical/scientific paper will be developed, simplifying knowledge and presenting practical application examples on emerging technologies.
