Sesimbra project wins four accolades at the prestigious Portuguese Museology Association ceremony

The Coastal Cultural Centre, a project promoted by the Municipality of Sesimbra and funded by the EEA Grants Culture Programme, was one of the standout initiatives at the 2025 APOM Awards, presented by the Portuguese Museology Association.

Held on June 2nd in Loulé, the ceremony awarded the Sesimbra-based project with two of the event’s top honours: the International Project Award and the Partnership Award, recognising its cross-border collaboration and innovative approach to preserving coastal heritage.

In addition, the Mercearia Ideal – A loja do Museu, a shop housed within the Coastal Cultural Centre, received the Marketing and Communication Award, highlighting the centre's effective and creative merchandising strategy. The project also earned an Honourable Mention in the category of Safeguarding, Conservation and Restoration in Cultural Heritage, further emphasising its commitment to heritage preservation.

These distinctions reinforce the Coastal Cultural Centre’s role as a beacon of cultural innovation and community engagement, positioning Sesimbra as a national reference in the promotion of maritime and coastal heritage.

The project is funded by the EEA Grants Portugal Culture Programme, operated by Património Cultural, I.P., and reflects a strong international partnership focused on inclusive, participatory, and sustainable cultural development.
