Sea Campaign promoted by Water World

From 14th March to 1st April 2022, the sea campaign of the Water World project takes place, at the underwater archaeological site Arade 23, located between Lagoa and Portimão.

This campaign is part of the Water World bilateral relations program, where technicians from the National Center for Nautical and Underwater Archeology (CNANS) will apply in partnership with technicians from the Norsk Maritime Museum, will apply and develop georeferenced underwater photogrammetry methodologies in the context of a shipwreck dating from the 19th century.

The action involves the collaboration of local entities, namely the Municipalities of Lagoa and Portimão, and includes experts from CHAM - Center for Humanities of the Nova University of Lisbon.

Promoted by CNANS in partnership with the Norsk Maritime Museum, the Water World aims to empower the Center through the development of recording methodologies, useful for the monitoring and dissemination of underwater cultural heritage, based on the previous experience of the institutions involved.
