Programme:

The Dentes de Leão project, an original co-production by Materiais Diversos, Pó de Vir a Ser, Academy of the Senses, Municipality of Sardoal and Culturgest, received funding from the Connecting Dots | EEA Grants programme. The project, within the scope of participatory arts, invests in the young population of Sardoal and Évora for the empowerment and sustainability of these territories and runs between 2021 and 2023.

In addition to the investment in creation and programming, it has a strong audience development component and provides advanced training, also focusing on research, monitoring and evaluation.

Results

  • Significant impact on young people and emerging artists from Évora, Sardoal, and Lisbon, promoting creative collaboration, personal growth, and access to new cultural perspectives.
  • Increased youth engagement in cultural activities in regions with limited opportunities.

  • Professional visibility, networking opportunities, and space for artistic experimentation for emerging artists from Évora and Santarém.

  • Training of artists in participatory arts methodologies through workshops and three artistic laboratories.

  • Training for local cultural agents, introducing new community engagement approaches, supported by bilateral partnerships with organizations from Iceland and Norway.

  • Tangible results: five new artistic creations, a publication, and a video documentary, expanding the project’s reach.

  • Public presentations and a final conference that increased awareness of participatory art among broader audiences.
