Awareness campaign for the use of drinking fountains in schools, with the aim of reducing the consumption of single-use plastic

With this action, the project also touches its fifth objective, in the scope “RETHINKING”, insofar as it enhances the reflection on the benefits of drinking tap water, rewarding the school community that throughout the school year focused on issues of Circular Economy at School

Within the scope of the project “Para cá do Marão embalagens não!”, an awareness-raising action was carried out by schools participating in the project, in order to reinforce the use of drinking fountains installed in School Camilo Castelo
Branco, Diogo Cão, Morgado Mateus, S. Pedro and Escola Profissional do Nervir, seeking to encourage the consumption of tap water and thus reduce the consumption of single-use plastic.

The installation of drinking fountains in schools was intended to promote the consumption of water connected to the public supply network in these educational establishments, in order to prevent the excessive use of single-use plastic bottles, leading young people to adopt new habits and, consequently, the reduction of waste from single-use plastic bottles, thus creating a cleaner and more sustainable city.

The drinking fountains are inclusive and have the functionality to fill bottles and/or drink directly, and can be used by the entire school community.

The project “Para cá do Marão embalagens não!” is financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, through the EEA Grants and by the General Secretariat for the Environment.
