The SECClass project, funded by the EEA Grants, aims to facilitate the Circular Economy in the Architecture, Engineering, Construction and Operation (AECO) sector by introducing a sustainability-optimized construction information classification system.
The AECO sector represents 10% of all European GDP, but its environmental impact is disproportionate with the emission of around 40% of greenhouse gases, in addition to the high consumption of water, energy and other raw materials.
The project presentation was a great opportunity to reinforce the importance of the circular economy in this segment and get to know other incredible initiatives in smart cities.
