The Municipality of Vila Real, attentive to the sustainability of the planet and specifically with regard to the issues of circularity of materials, has been implementing innovative projects in this matter. Since the presentation of a solution for beverage packaging (plastic and cans), it is now expanding its scope of action on the theme of circularity. It presents an innovative solution for the recovery of end-of-life clothing and for the recycling of social masks. It should be noted that currently in Vila Real textiles correspond to 4% of the waste deposited in landfill.
It works as a Circular Economy market, supported by a digital application and platform dedicated to new generations of consumers, being an answer to the growing problems of textile waste. It incorporates the digitization of end-of-life items delivered by users, their analysis and digital validation, allowing their traceability and follows the waste hierarchy suggested by the European Union, with a focus on the Circular Textile Economy.
The Municipality of Vila Real, in this project start-up phase and in order to include the entire population in this aim of promoting sustainability, is sending a message to all institutions and/or entities that want to be partners, either through the collection and delivery of social masks used in their establishments, either for the delivery of end-of-life uniforms and/or service gowns, or for the delivery of other textile products.
