Public presentation in ISCSP, Lisbon

As part of the Work-life Balance Programme, the Predefined Project "GE-HEI - Gender Equality In Higher Education Institutions" was lauched on July 18th, at ISCSP - Alto da Ajuda University Campus, Lisbon.

The Project Promotor is DGES - General Directorate of Higher Education in partnership with: CIEG - Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies/ISCSP – University of Lisbon, A3ES - Agency for Evaluation and Accreditation of Higher Education and RIKK - Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference at the University of Iceland.

The Project GE-HEI aims to understand why, although there are more and more female students, teachers and researchers, there is poor female representation in the leadership of research centers and in higher education. This is a three-year project that will analyze the dimensions of gender inequality in higher education institutions in Portugal.

At the project presentation session, the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality, Rosa Monteiro, highlighted specific needs in this area:

  • Understand the mechanisms of reproduction of inequalities;
  • Evaluate public policies - their objective impact and their possibilities for deepening and improving;
  • Examine the actual materialization, in the daily lives of women and men, of the principles and objectives arising from the Istanbul Convention and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The presentation session took place on July 18, at ISCSP, at the Alto da Ajuda University Campus.
