The Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (CIG) is the public body responsible for promoting and defending the fundamental principle of equality between women and men as enshrined in the Constitution of the Portuguese Republic, looking to respond to the profound social and political changes of society in citizenship and gender equality.
Its mission is to ensure the implementation of public policies in the field of citizenship, the promotion and defense of gender equality and the fight against domestic and gender-based violence and human trafficking.
CIG is the operator of the Work-life Balance programme.
