Programme:What is the project about?
This project aims to foster civil and cooperative participation among women farmers from inland countryside of Portugal, through their empowerment, so as to contribute to their social visibility and enhancing equality between women and men. The intervention-oriented project is based on the Theory of Change, a methodology which carries participation in its core.
It is an Open Call #5 project: Intervention projects to promote gender equality at local level.

- This project is promoting equality for women farmers
- Promotion of actions and initiatives related to gender equality in the municipalities of Tondela, Trancoso, Nelas, Gouveia, Tarouca, and Viseu.
- Creation of networks of women farmers focused on empowerment, knowledge sharing, and the valorization of rural wisdom.
- Organization of a certified training course on Gender Equality in Agriculture, with 10 participants (9 women and 1 man).
- Application of the Theory of Change (ToC) and participatory methodologies, with a strong action-research component.
- Internal and external evaluation of the project, demonstrating more than 75% positive impact on participants’ perceptions and skills.

- Participation and presentation at events such as the 2023 National Citizen Science Meeting and the Final Equal Rural Seminar.
- Capacity-building of local professionals, with 9 participants.
- Publication of the book Beyond MAIs – Women Farmers in Inland Territories.
- Article "Women in family farming: Evidence from a qualitative study in two Portuguese inner regions"
