What is the project about?

The Free Choices project - Stereotypes are not my gender: vocational and professional choices free of prejudice has as main objective to create and implement a program to prevent gender stereotypes and promote gender equality, focused on vocational and professional choices, with young people from the 7th grade onwards in schools in the regions of Porto and Setúbal. Additionally, the project will contribute to the awareness raising of other young people through an international campaign, to scientific knowledge and training of professionals in this area.

It is an Open Call #2 project: Projects to combat sex segregation in educational and professional choices and discrimination in the labour market

What will it achieve?

  • Implement a program to prevent gender stereotypes and promote gender equality, focused on vocational and professional choices, in a school context with young people from 7th to 9th grade
  • Train professionals working in schools to promote vocational choices free from gender stereotypes
  • Introduce young people to the world of work through guided tours and workshops in companies and universities
  • Carry out a Role Model Program to promote reflection among young people and inspire them in their free vocational paths
  • Understanding young people's perception of gender in educational and professional choices in Portugal
  • Share experiences and knowledge with national and international experts
  • Promote awareness raising among young people through a campaign disseminated on social networks on the importance of professional choices free from stereotypes
