On June 9th, the official presentation session of the Ergomarine project was held, promoted by Ernesto São Simão, Lda. This project aims to develop innovative systems for oyster farming, targeted to the European market. These new systems intend to stimulate productivity in aquaculture, increasing the competitiveness of this sector. And, as the name "Ergo" indicates, they are designed with the intention of enable the hard work of the oyster farmers by ensuring ergonomics.
At the launch event, Ernesto São Simão Lda. presented the general lines of the project, as well as the first developments of this project, which began at the end of 2020.
The opening session was attended by Maria João Lois, Head Deputy of the National Focal Point of the EEA Grants, who congratulated the official kick-off of this project, reinforcing the importance of Blue Growth Programme in developing the Portuguese blue economy.
The session also featured speakers from the aquaculture sector who revealed the state of the art of oyster farming in the European and Portuguese markets as well as a speaker representing the scientific partner of the project who focused on the importance of the relationship between the scientific and business sectors.
