The Algarve is a region with a privileged location on the coast where maritime activities are one of the essential pillars of the regional economy. However, despite having an immense potential for innovation in this sector, it has not yet been possible to stimulate sustainable development that creates investment, jobs, and the establishment of critical mass in the region. One of the factors that contributed to this problem is the low rate of education and training of the region's work force. This is associated with the low rate of approval mainly in the scientific areas and the early abandonment of the education system.

The BridgingAll project aims to increase the quality of science education and communication in Algarve by promoting capacity building and training courses to improve the knowledge, communications skills, and competences through: i) career development of science teachers, who will have the opportunity to strengthen  skills and resources needed to stimulate their student´s interest in science, ii) increasing the capacity of future scientists (university students) to carry out ocean literacy activities, and iii) engaging younger students in Ocean science. Courses will include a combination of practical activities and digital and multimedia resources, and will focus on Ocean science, with particular attention to marine and maritime issues relevant to the Algarve region.
