The main objective of this call was to fund projects that focused on the priority areas of reducing plastics in the oceans and to promote awareness of the challenges related to plastics in the oceans and to propose solutions.
In terms of long-term impact, it was intended to improve the environmental status of marine waters and coastal areas, increase the resilience of human communities and business opportunities and job creation, based on the prevention of marine plastic waste, as well as its collection for recycling or reuse.
Based on the information on the financed projects, the Environment Programme produced an infographic, which is intended to inform in a visually explanatory way the main results of the Small Grant Scheme#1.
