Ecoibéria - Reciclados Ibéricos, S.A was present during the initiative to present and sign contracts under the Call# 1 of the EEA Grants Environment Programme, which took place at Alfandega Porto on 24 July.
The pilot projects for the deposit refund system for beverage bottles and cans that were presented at this event included the Ecoiberia project called “Bottle to Bottle: Top Quality PET for the circular economy of plastic bottles in Portugal”.
The main objectives of the project include:
Increase the share of recycled material dedicated to the “Bottle to Bottle” market, with the creation of a specific product of premium quality;
Enhance Ecoiberia's laboratory capacity in order to guarantee quality and safety, especially in terms of recycled food contact packaging.

The Environment Programme supports this project within the scope of the Call#1, which aims to finance projects that focus on priority areas for reducing plastics in the oceans and promoting awareness of the challenges related to plastics in the oceans and proposing solutions.
Under the EEA Grants 2014-2021, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, as donor Countries, finance, in 15 Member States of the European Union, initiatives and projects with the objective of reducing social and economic disparities by strengthening bilateral relations with beneficiary Countries.
