A debate dedicated to the civic and political participation of women today.

The public presentation session of the Project Participo! was held on December 2, funded by the EEA Grants and promoted by the Union of Freguesias of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde, within the scope of the Work-life Balance Programme, operated by CIG.

The online event marked the debate dedicated to the civic and political participation of women today, and saw the participation of Teresa Fragoso (President of CIG from 2016 to September 2020) and Céline Valente (Founder and Coordinator of the Aurora Project and DJ in Plan B).

Teresa Fragoso stressed the importance of "becoming aware of the causes of the asymmetry of participation and power between men and women", stressing that these asymmetries "need a lot of work and awareness (...) in order to alleviate them" until they finally cease to exist. Céline Valente, in turn, shared the experience of being a woman in a typically male-dominated medium, such as that of musical production.

The project Participo! - Women's Civic and Political Participation is an Open Call#5 – Intervention projects to promote gender equality at local level and aims to increase the rates of political and civic participation of women and girls in the parishes (freguesias) of Aldoar, Foz do Douro and Nevogilde, as well as a greater involvement of women who already participate in local political and civic life and want to increase their levels of responsibility.

The project has an EEA Grants fund of € 240,019 and will be developed over 24 months.
